How To Guide 2015

The How To Guide

This resource has been developed through consultation with experienced smear-taking nurses who work with high needs populations.  These nurses have willingly shared their ideas and insights for improving engagement, invitation, recall, auditing PMS data, smear-taking and technical tips.  The intention is to improve the experience for women and increase rates of participation.

In addition, where issues relating to the National Cervical Screening Guidelines have been identified, the document references the appropriate source of guidance e.g. clinical safety, cultural safety, choice, cost, availability, communication, professional standards and professional development.

Three versions are available:  MedTech, MyPractice and Profile. The original version was published and distributed to practices through their PHOs in 2013.  The content was enhanced and updated in 2015.  More updates will be available here soon.
