Gynaecology Oncology

National Women’s provides world-class comprehensive treatment and care for women with all forms of gynaecological cancer.

We help women with:

  • Cervical cancer
  • Vulval cancer
  • Ovarian cancer
  • Uterine cancer

Patients are initially assessed at outpatient clinics, where they are seen by specialist oncology staff including a Gynaecology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist who will support them through their treatment journey.

Treatment may include surgery and/or other services, such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

In-hospital care

Ward 97 at Auckland City Hospital provides both pre-operative and post operative care. The staff in this ward have expertise in the care of oncology patients and are supported by the Clinical Nurse Specialist. Access to specialist units, such as the High Dependency Unit or Critical Care, is available when higher levels of monitoring are required.

Support and education

Patients and their families can be referred to a range of affiliated health professionals, such as psychologists, physiotherapists, dieticians, occupational therapists and pharmacists.
