Gynaecology Psychology Service

Our Gynaecology Psychology service aims to support wahine in our care to make changes to their physical health, promote their general well-being, and cope with mental distress. 

Our team is made of psychologists who have post-graduate university qualifications in psychology that are based on theory, practice and research. All our psychologists are registered with the NZ Psychologists Board() and do ongoing training and education to make sure their knowledge of theory and practice is up to date. Our work is guided by the New Zealand Psychological Society's Code of Ethics.

We can meet you one-on-one, with your partner or with your whanau and talk about ways to help with:

  • Making choices about treatment
  • Pain and other symptom management strategies
  • Adjusting to a health condition
  • Lifestyle planning around a health condition
  • Sexuality and relationship concerns


We see women coping with a range of gynaecology conditions including:

  • Menopause
  • Pelvic pain, antenatal pain and endometriosis
  • Genital pain conditions such as vaginismus and vulvodynia
  • Cervical, vulval and ovarian conditions
  • Hysterectomy
  • Sexuality concerns following cancer treatment and radiation therapy
  • Complex adolescent gynaecological conditions
