Midwifery Council Recertification Requirements

1. Combined Emergency Skills Refresher

• Incorporates maternal and neonatal resuscitation and emergency skills. 
• Attendance at PrOMPT or ALSO will meet this requirement but a neonatal resuscitation update will have to be undertaken separately.
• One day every year.

2. Continuing Midwifery Education

• A minimum of eight (8) hours per annum.

3. Professional Activities

• A minimum of eight (8) hours per annum.

4. Midwifery Standards Review

• Every 3 years (MSR Panels have discretion to change this requirement)
• New midwives will be reviewed at the end of their first year of practice.
